Maths Week in the Forest

This week is maths week and we are doing maths through art.

In Early Years we looked at symmetry and learnt that

butterflies have symmetrical patterns on their wings.

In the forest we used clay to make

butterflies on the trees.

We tried to make sure the butterflies

had a body and two wings.

Then we used twigs and sticks to make

patterns on the butterflies – making sure

we did the same pattern on each side.

Here are some of the finished butterflies.

We also made forest paint

out of mud and water.

We used the forest paint to paint butterfly pictures.
