Years 5 & 6 In the Forest

Year 5 and 6 spent some time in the

forest school learning to tie a clove hitch.

We thought about the story of The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch and the problems he had stopping the seagulls from eating his picnic.

We practised our clove hitch while we made shelters

for the lighthouse keeper to eat his dinner in and by

making lids for his picnic basket out of sticks.

Some of us have already mastered the clove hitch.

One group made their shelter then decided to use the clove hitch to make a fishing rod so that the lighthouse keeper could catch his own lunch.

Another group recreated the wire that the

picnic basket was sent down in the story.
