World Book Day
 
         
 

There were lots of colourful and clever costumes in school for World Book Day.

In Early Years you could meet the Wizard from

The Princess & the Wizard (Julia Donaldson),

Angelina Ballerina (Katharine Holabird),

Aslan the lion - The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe

( C.S. Lewis) as well as Goldilocks from the Fairy Tale

Goldilocks & The Three Bears.

 
 
 
 

The clever costumes in Year 1 included; The Saucepan Man and Silky the Fairy from The Magic Faraway Tree (Enid Blyton), Paddington Bear (Michael Bond), Jim Hawkins - Treasure Island (R.L. Stevenson) and

Charlie Bucket - Charlie & the Chocolate Factory (Roald Dahl).

There was also a visit from the Time Lord, Dr Who !

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Pippy Longstocking (Astrdi Lindgren) was in Year 2

along with Super Soccer Boy (Judy Brown)

and Mr Stink (David Walliams).

 
 
 
 

Still in Year 2 were The Fantastic Mr Fox (Roald Dahl),

Captain Flinn from the books by Giles Andreae

and Mary Lennox of The Secret Garden

(Frances Hodgson Burnett).

 
 
 
 

A Bear from Goldilocks & The Three Bears (Fairy Tale) could be found in Year 3 as well as Tweedle Dum -

Alice in Wonderland (Lewis Caroll), Jenna from the book Magyk (Angie Sage), The Cat in the Hat (Dr Seuss) ,

Rebecca the Rock & Roll Fairy (Daisy Meadows) and another Charlie Bucket (Roald Dahl)!

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Year 4 brought us Jane Eyre (Charlotte Bronte),

Private Peaceful (Michael Morpurgo) and

Artemis Fowl (Eoin Colfer).

 
 
 
 

Also in Year 4 Lord Voldemort found himself

confronted by Harry Potter and Hermione Granger

from the series of books by J.K. Rowling!

 
 
 
 

Characters in Year 5 included The One and Only Ivan (Katherine Applegate), Pippi Longstocking

(Astrid Lindgren), Veruca Salt - Charlie & the Chocolate Factory (Roald Dahl), Stargirl (Jerry Spinelli),

The Enormous Crocodile (Roald Dahl) and Hiccup the Horrendous Haddock from the book

How to Train Your Dragon (Cressida Cowell).

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

There was another Cat in the Hat (Dr Seuss) in Year 6

with Harry Potter (J.K. Rowling) and Bear Grylls,

writer of the book Way of the Wolf . . .

 
 
 
 

. . . Dorothy - The Wizard of Oz (L. Frank Baum),

Roberta the eldest child in The Railway Children

(Edith Nesbit) and Asterix from the series of stories

by Rene Goscinny.

 
 
 
 

Even some of the adults in school joined in.

 

We have Percy the Park Keeper (Nick Butterworth),

Stickman (Julia Donaldson) and finally

Bob the Builder (Keith Chapman).
