Yorkshire Arboretum

Year 1 and 2 really enjoyed their visit to the Yorkshire Arboretum.

The sun shone and the children learnt lots about wildlife in woods and ponds.

They learnt how to collect minibeasts

using a brush and a spoon.

There was great excitement when

toads were discovered!

The children followed the rules and stayed safe

whilst pond dipping. They used nets to dip.

Always stand sideways to avoid falling in!

The children found many exciting creatures including

a leech, damselfly nymphs and sticklebacks.

Lunch was taken under cover and on picnic tables.
