Diversity

What an amazing school community we are, with over 50 nationalities and 20 languages represented in just over 210 children – truly “Many Nations, One School”!

Lord Deramore’s is also proud to celebrate a diverse range of families and those members of our community who identify as LGBT+. For several years now, our school has been represented in the annual York Pride parade. The school’s RSE and PSHE curriculum covers LGBT+ issues in an age appropriate way, thus ensuring that all of our children develop tolerance, understanding, respect and acceptance of our diverse society and community.

Book Assemblies

Alongside our PSHE “Jigsaw” curriculum and assemblies, we have also developed a weekly book assembly which focuses on aspects of equality, diversity and inclusion. All of the books have been precisely chosen to enhance our school community’s personal development.

Annual Diversity Celebration

This annual event is a wonderful opportunity to come together as a vibrant and multicultural school family. At the most recent celebration in March it was wonderful to see so many of our school community there! A massive THANK YOU to all of the children for their fantastic international art work, the very talented orchestra and performers, the university’s drumming workshop leads, the fantastic parent helpers who helped set up and tidy up, and of course the brilliant cooks who shared some delicious food with everybody.
