From 4th-8th July 2016, we had an Outdoor Learning Week. It was an exciting way to enrich our creative curriculum and enable us all to transfer our skills to new aspects of learning. There were many activities and events that everyone in school had the opportunity to experience and share together.
We also had a number of interesting visitors in school.
Many of us had drawn plans for a tree house, which would be constructed in our forest area later in the week. The winning entries would all be combined together to create the final design.
There were clear blue skies over our old school building and the sun was shining as we held our first assembly outdoors. We learnt about the theme for the week – Different Worlds- and found out about some of the activities we would be taking part in.
The tents we would be using as outdoor ‘classrooms’ were ready, although the goose that has ‘adopted’ us was not very happy at being left out!
We were very lucky with the weather all week, managing to eat outside every day. On the final day we had a ‘Teddy Bear Picnic’. One bear even joined in the lunchtime football game!
We were entertained by ‘Boys Aloud’ from Archbishop Holgate’s School as well as our resident Year 5 Band and enjoyed a refreshing, cool treat!
To end the week we held an assembly where we shared some of the exciting things we had been doing. Everyone agreed it had been a fantastic week!
