What an exciting day we had at Lord Deramore’s celebrating World Book Day and our love of reading! There were lots of amazing costumes. You could see The Mad Hatter, Fantastic Mr Fox, Captain Haddock and Alfie, the Doorstep Cat, as well as many more. See how many characters you can recognise. There were so many inventive outfits but eventually the school council were able to select a winner from each class. We also had an extremely entertaining Book Factor Assembly. Congratulations to Mrs Gulliver, as The Disgusting Sandwich, on her victory!

World Book Day Activities
Children across school have been busy with different book related activities all day. Year 6 wrote and illustrated their own Little Miss and Mr Men stories, making them appropriate for the Early Years and Key Stage 1 children. They also rewrote their partners’ story ‘upping’ the vocabulary and punctuation. Later in the day they shared their stories with Year 1.

We can’t believe it, but we only have ten more school days left in the old school before half term! The paths and access routes are being planned so that everything is ready for the handover of the new building at the end of half term.
We are making history at Lord Deramore’s.

Sports 2016
For our competitive sporting event this year we gathered at the University of York’s all weather track. There were some speedy sprints, close finishes and brilliant balancing! Despite the storm clouds gathering and the heavens opening, just before the last two events, we all had a great time!
Our fun sport team activities took place on one of the hottest days of the year so far! The teams this year were named after cities that have hosted the Olympic Games. There were 12 teams, each made up of children from each year group. The older children support and encourage the younger team members. There are activities that required concentration, balance, accuracy, different ball skills and team work. The ‘water stops’ in the shade were very welcome this year and we all enjoyed a cold shower at the ‘cooling station’! While we waited for the final scores, we enjoyed a refreshing treat in the shade. The winning team this year was Athens. Well done everyone!
