Year 1 learnt about carnivores, herbivores and omnivores. The children had to read the information cards and then sort the animals.

Year 2 had a great time growing cress as part of Science Week. They planted cress seeds with different liquids and waited to see what would happen. The teachers watched the seeds in coffee with interest! They made careful observational drawings and examined the cress under the microscope.
Early Years found out that all the butterflies from Tropical World had been stolen! They had to complete 3 challenges to get them back in time for their visit the next day – a butterfly hunt round school, writing secret messages and making butterfly pictures. You’ll be pleased to know they met the challenges and the butterflies have been returned – phew!
Early Years went on an archaeological dig! They found ‘dinosaur bones’ as well as ‘dinosaur teeth’. They are busy cataloguing them for their museum!
Our new school building was officially opened by Mr David Foster, a governor at our school for 40 years, on Thursday 6th April 2017. The hall was decorated with bunting, the orchestra played and we celebrated with songs and poetry reading. There were special guests, speeches and presentations, as well as the unveiling of a commemorative plaque and ceremonial ribbon cutting. This was followed by a whole school tea party to say goodbye to Mrs Sheena Powley, who is moving on after 21 years as Headteacher at Lord Deramore’s Primary School.
What an exciting day we had at Lord Deramore’s celebrating World Book Day and our love of reading! There were lots of amazing costumes. You could see The Mad Hatter, Fantastic Mr Fox, Captain Haddock and Alfie, the Doorstep Cat, as well as many more. See how many characters you can recognise. There were so many inventive outfits but eventually the school council were able to select a winner from each class. We also had an extremely entertaining Book Factor Assembly. Congratulations to Mrs Gulliver, as The Disgusting Sandwich, on her victory!
Children across school have been busy with different book related activities all day. Year 6 wrote and illustrated their own Little Miss and Mr Men stories, making them appropriate for the Early Years and Key Stage 1 children. They also rewrote their partners’ story ‘upping’ the vocabulary and punctuation. Later in the day they shared their stories with Year 1.
